Best Bosch Dishwasher For 2018: A Handy Guide

Bosch Dishwasher

The Bosch dishwasher has made a name for itself in the United States, it's a quiet and powerful appliance. That doesn’t even take into account how sleek and futuristic the dishwasher looks.

There are a number of different models of Bosch dishwashers, and they are all high-end.

Better yet, these dishwashers not only look the part but offer quick cycles as well, with a Speed60 option that gets dishes done in under an hour.

On top of all the fantastic features that Bosch dishwasher models offer, there are even a few that provide internet connectivity.

We’ll talk more about Bosch’s HomeConnect application later, but how wonderful would it be if your dishwasher auto-ordered your detergent before you ran out?

Bosch has an extensive line of dishwashers, but we’ve listed the best of them in this article. What your needs are, and what features you want are second only to your budget when exploring your options.

When it comes to Bosch, you know you are getting a state of the art dishwasher. Now, it's just which one best suits your needs.

Best Bosch Dishwasher Models of 2018

The Bosch dishwashers listed below are the ones we feel are the best of the year. Their features, capabilities, and functionality set them above the rest.

Bosch 800 Series

The crown jewel of the Bosch dishwasher line is the 800 series. This dishwasher has everything you expect from a top of the line appliance.

You’ll find three racks, a red InfoLight that lets you know the dishwasher is running, and a detergent holder explicitly made for tabs. The racks are configurable, by moving them up and down the machine makes plenty of room for larger items.

With the 800 series, you’ll get plenty of adjustable rack tines, which allow more dishes in different spaces. That means you can load more into your Bosch 800 since you can fold down the tines located on the bottom.

You’ll be amazed at how quiet the Bosch 800 series is. Bosch is already known for how little noise their dishwashers make, but the 800 is even quieter than its predecessors.

It runs around 39 dBa, which is five dBa softer than other dishwashers in the Bosch line.A few additional features of the Bosch dishwasher 800 series offers are its touch controls and smartphone connectivity.

The touch controls are capacitive, which means they behave like the icons on your smartphone. If you prefer buttons, then you don’t want the 800 series.

The smartphone app connects to Bosch’s Home Connect which lets you know when a load is done, you need more detergent, or your dishwasher has a leak.

That means that this Bosch option is right at home with your smart home gadgets.

Design and performance

If you’re the type of person that needs matching appliances, the 800 series comes in stainless, white, and black. You can also get a design that blends in with your kitchen cabinetry, so it hides your Bosch dishwasher unless you’re unloading or loading it.

Keep in mind, however, that the Bosch 800 series does not have a child lock function. Like the other dishwashers in the Bosch line, the 800 series gets your dishes nearly spotless. With six wash cycles, you’ll rarely find food on your dishes.

However, finding the right combination of detergent to dish ratio, so you don't have soapy residue leftover, can be a challenge. You’ll also appreciate the leak-prevention feature called AquaStop provided by the 800 series.

This functionality shuts the system down if it senses a leak, and pumps out the water. You can get the Bosch series 800 dishwasher for $999 at your local Best Buy, Lowe’s, or Sears.

Bosch 500 Series

Even though the Bosch 500 series dishwasher isn’t as quiet as the 800 series, compared to other dishwashers, it’s virtually noiseless.

It’s so soft that Bosch has a red light which shines directly on the floor, so you know when a cycle is running. That prevents you from opening the door while the dishwasher is mid-cycle.

[amazon bestseller=”bosch 500 series” items=”3″]

The Bosch 500 series offers a sound rating of 44 dBa and has a third rack which allows for more room in the lower rack. Drying time is decreased with Bosch’s ExtraDry feature, and you’ll get a faster wash with a Speed60 cycle that completes in 60 minutes.

Design and performance

Each 500 series dishwasher comes with top-mounted controls that you cannot see when the door is closed.

The top-mounted controls feed into Bosch's sleek appearance. Like the 800 series, all 500 series dishwashers likely have an option matching your cabinetry, which blends into your kitchen.

If you’re looking for color options, the Bosch 500 series offers the same ones as the 800 series provides: stainless, white, and black. The interior of the 500 series is stainless steel, which helps with minimizing the sound spraying water makes.

However, there have been issues with the plastic handle breaking, so bear that in mind before purchasing this dishwasher. The dispenser is explicitly made for detergent pods, and just like the 800 series, the tines on the racks can be folded down and adjusted creating room for taller dishes. One nice feature available with the 500 is a basket that can split apart.

You’ll get a great clean with the five cycles available on the 500 series, and if you’re looking for a reliable, high-quality dishwasher, you could do much worse. Going with the 500 series will save you a little money when compared to the 800, and you’ll get nearly the same performance.

The 500 series can be found at Best Buy, Lowe’s, and Sears for $809.

Bosch 300 Series

We’ve already covered that Bosch makes one of the quietest dishwashers in the industry, but they’re also among the best.

Bosch dishwashers reliably get plates clean, are energy efficient, and offer new and innovative features that are both elegant and practical. The Bosch 300 series is no exception.

[amazon bestseller=”bosch 300 series” items=”3″]

The Bosch dishwasher 300 series still provides a quiet dishwashing cycle, but its 46 dBa is a little louder than its 500 and 800 counterparts. Like its successors, the 300 series boasts Bosch’s AquaStop feature. This option shuts down the appliance if a drain or water leak is detected.

Additional features of the 300 series include the Speed60 cycle, which is a quick cycle that runs in 60 minutes, and ExtraDry, an option that raises the temperature during the drying cycle, so it finishes faster than normal.

You’ll also notice the adjustable tines which allow for loading taller, thicker dishes, and the water softener capabilities, which helps alleviate spotting or etching on your glassware. Typically, you’ll only find this feature on the high-end models, but not so with Bosch.

Design and performance

The Bosch dishwasher 300 series is available in white, black, and stainless, or you can have them built-in panel ready for an integrated look into the rest of your kitchen.

One thing different on the 300 series than the 500 or 800 series dishwashers are the front-mounted controls. These are more clearly visible, which help you know when a cycle is running.

Dirty dishes will be a thing of the past with all the available cycles available on this Bosch dishwasher. You can choose between the normal cycle, the Speed60 cycle, and the heavy cycle, all of which will clean the vast majority of foods and stains thrown their way.

While the Bosch 300 series dishwasher may not be as quiet as other models, its features still make it a better option than the vast majority of appliances on the market. With the 300 series, you’ll get a quick, clean, and quiet dishwasher.

It's important to note that while the Bosch 300 series is a great dishwasher, it lacks a function for small loads.

You can find the Bosch 300 series dishwashers at Lowe’s, Sears, and Best Buy for $674.

Bosch Benchmark

Bosch’s Benchmark dishwashers focus on quality at the highest level. Not only do they uphold the Bosch dishwasher standard for quiet dishwashers, but they also provide a water softener feature.

Additionally, you'll see an interior LED that lights up when the door opens. We’ve already visited the Bosch 800 and 500 series dishwashers, but the Benchmark is a cut above.

[amazon bestseller=”bosch benchmark” items=”3″]

This stainless steel dishwasher has a recessed handle that makes closing and opening it easy. The door is sturdy, robust and opens with ease. Top-mounted controls hide out of sight when you close the door.

However, the Benchmark offers an LCD on the front that shows the remaining time left in the current cycle. Some prefer the light that shines on the floor for simplicity, and if that’s you, then the Benchmark isn’t for you.

Like other Bosch dishwashers, the Benchmark has a lower rack with adjustable tines; however, its third rack - the MyWay rack - is an area where the Benchmark differs from the rest.

This rack in this Bosch dishwasher accommodates cereal bowls and even deep utensils. It’s the perfect space for those few remaining dishes you don’t quite have room for in the other racks. The Benchmark matches the 800 series in noiseless operation. It runs at 39 dBa, so you know it will be nearly silent.

You will, however, notice the interior light discussed earlier. It lights up every time you open the dishwasher, illuminating the entire interior of the appliance.

Design and performance

If you’re the type of person who ignores the user manual and jumps in, the Benchmark has a built-in user guide. Use it if you run into problems during the setup process. The guide is also helpful if you want a better understanding of the cycles your dishwasher uses.

A great feature with the Bosch Benchmark dishwasher is the amount of water it will save you. Its normal cycle uses less than two gallons of water, while the heavy cycle uses less than three and a half.

Even with the light cycles, you’ll notice that your dishes come out clean. The Benchmark uses less water than average dishwashers and gets the job done. The Bosch Benchmark dishwasher is without a doubt the Bosch, flagship model. It is reliable, dependable, and provides nearly any function you could want with your dishwasher.

It’s a little pricey, but if you want all the bells and whistles on your dishwasher, the Benchmark is your best option.

As long as you don't mind shelling out the dough for this fantastic dishwasher, you can purchase the Benchmark for $1,999 through Sears, or find local retailers through the Bosch website.

Bosch Ascenta Series

If you want a Bosch dishwasher, but want something more affordable, the Ascenta is the dishwasher for you.

Of course, you give up some of the features found on other Bosch dishwashers which helps bring the price down. The Ascenta is still a dependable dishwasher that gets your dishes clean.

[amazon bestseller=”bosch ascenta” items=”2″]

The Ascenta series does offer a quieter dishwasher than most others on the market. However, its slightly louder than the others we’ve discussed, checking in at 50 dBa.

You will, however, have the red light that shines on the floor, so you know when your dishwasher is running. You’ll also lose out on the Speed60 cycle, and the RackMatic adjustable racks. However, the machine somewhat makes up for it by offering an Express Wash option.

This cycle gets your dishes clean in a relatively quick hour and a half. Even though you’re paying a little less for the Ascenta dishwasher, you’ll find that it’s cleaning abilities are on the same level as dishwashers that cost the same.

Even the Heavy Duty cycle won’t get your dishes as pristine as the Benchmark, 300, 500, or 800 dishwashers.

However, it’ll still take care of the vast majority of your dirty dishes. If you want a Bosch dishwasher, but are on a budget, you can’t go wrong with the Ascenta. Your dishes will be clean, and it will look great in your kitchen.

You’ll hardly hear the dishwasher while it’s running through its cycle. You can find the Bosch Ascenta dishwasher at Sears, Best Buy, and Lowe’s. Their price ranges from $499 to $699.

You Can’t Go Wrong With a Bosch

As you can see, there are several great options among the Best Bosch Dishwashers of 2018.

Whether you want the top of the line Benchmark or the less costly Ascenta, you’re getting a quality dishwasher that will get your dishes clean.

There are plenty of features and options available no matter what your preferences.

Bosch dishwashers are reliable, quiet, and sleek.

They stand near the top of the line among dishwashers for a reason. If you’re looking for a quiet, quality dishwasher, take a look at a Bosch. You won’t regret your decision.
